Rich and diverse discussions representing our community

POINTE-CLAIRE, December 7, 2016 – The mayor of the City of Pointe-Claire, Morris Trudeau, and the members of City Council want to thank all the residents who participated in the discussion meetings to prepare the artistic programming to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation.

“In 2017, we will celebrate our country’s 150th birthday with activities highlighting the richness of our culture. Everyone will be invited to participate in the artistic activities offered to celebrate our cultural diversity, which is the foundation of our identity in what makes us different and what brings us together,” says Mayor Trudeau.
These discussion meetings gave more than 50 residents the opportunity to discuss Canadian identity in a creative and respectful environment. The elements identified to mark the festivities will be based on the importance of nature and the environment, a spirit of openness, diversity, freedom and a sense of security.

It is in respect of these values and with the same spirit of solidarity that sets our community apart that the activities to celebrate the 150th anniversary will be organized. The programming will be announced soon.
“We can already say that the celebrations on July 1, 2017, will be enhanced by artistic and unifying activities to the great pleasure of our entire community to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday,” concludes Mayor Trudeau.
